Obituary of Frank Ford Shipp
Frank Ford Shipp, age 79 of Ballston Lake passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Ellis Hospital. He was born on June 25, 1939 in Battle Creek, MI, the son of the late Leland and Gail Shipp.
He is survived by his daughter, Sandy Shipp, residing in Minneapolis MN. And by his life-partner, Joyce Pike of 21 years, her daughter Kelley Pike (Frank Coons), and their two children, Frankie, Shiann, and her son Jesse (Paula) Pike, and their two children, Camryn and Emma. He is also survived by his sister Susan Bond of Battle Creek, and 2 nieces, Jennifer Johnston, Aimee Bond and 1 nephew, George Bond and their families. He was predeceased by his sons Lee and Larry Shipp.
Frank received his MBA from the University of Michigan. He started his career in food sales and moved on to be a district sales manager for RJR. Later, he founded his own financial planning firm, Shipp Financial Services in 1978, semi-retired in 2000, and fully retired in 2008. Frank enjoyed teaching adult financial education classes at the College of St. Rose for many years. He was a long time RPI season ticket holder and participant in Friends of RPI. He coached both hockey and baseball in Bethlehem and was an avid sports fan.
He was a past board member of the Capital Repertoire Theatre, Trout Unlimited, U of M Club and served on the board of the Ballston Lake Improvement Association. His passions included golfing, skiing, playing tennis, and fishing. He appreciated good music and a good cigar.
A memorial gathering for friends and family will be held at the Normanside Country Club in Delmar on December 20th from 6 to 9 PM and in Battle Creek at Clara’s on the River December 29th from 1 to 3 PM.
In lieu of flowers, Frank’s wish is for you to extend kindness and good deeds to others in your community.
