I had the joy of getting to know Martha during the 10 years that I worked at the Legal Aid Society in Albany from 1979-1989. Martha was beloved by her clients and coworkers alike. She had a heart full of compassion and always went the extra mile for her clients. I had to walk by her office on her way to mine every day and she always had a bright hello and a cheerful word. Often I would stop for longer than a minute or two for a chat about our clients or an issue in one of our cases. Most often she would share heartwarming stories about her family - you all were the center of her world. My favorite memory is when she invited my husband and I for a day on their boat, back when she and Ray still kept the boat on Lake George. We had such a good time -she and Ray made us feel like we had been friends forever. Such fun, enjoying the summer weather, the water and each other's company. She and Ray will always have a special place in my heart. My condolences to her family. May her memory be a blessing to you all.
