Obituary of Patricia A. Sanderson
Please share a memory of Patricia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with profound sadness that the family of Patricia A. Sanderson announce her peaceful passing on December 29th 2020 at the age of 72 years.
Patty was born and grew up in Westmoreland, NY to the late Leland and Elizabeth Elliott. There, she met many lifelong friends and started her family. Because of her gregarious spirit and love of entertaining, she worked within the hospitality industry many of her years in Central New York.
After relocating with her beloved boyfriend John (Fenlon) Bellosa in 1996 to Ballston Lake, NY she built an event planning company, Global Events Management. Through that business she was proud to work with the various armed forces such as the Coast Guard to set up quality lodging options when the crews were not deployed. She loved taking care of her “Coasties” by ensuring she could offer fine quality hotels and dining options through her various hotel and restaurant partners she worked with.
The key to Patty’s success in her various work endeavors was her strong desire to take care of people and her overall giving spirit. If you knew Patty through work or personally, you knew her contagious laugh. She was always more interested in how you were than how she was feeling. Patty had so many people in her life she considered friends but to her, friends were family. She had no casual acquaintances and was called Mama by many. To friends and family she was generous to a fault, and was known for her gifts and little gestures.
But nothing meant more to Patty than her family. Her children Jennifer, Kira and Robert were the center of her life, and as they began families, their children’s lives too. Though she was ailing for many years, she lived life to the fullest and never let her disease get to her. Even while using oxygen and often a mobility aid she wanted to be part of whatever her friends or family were doing. Another big part of her family was her fur babies Simon, Cheri, and Brucie. Patty took her dogs with her when she travelled and loved having them by her side.
Within the last decade, Patty, Fenlon and her caretaker/friend Cindy moved to Florida which was always a lifelong dream of hers. As snow birds they could visit with their family in upstate NY as well as in Cape Coral, FL. She loved being outside with the plants and birds on her lanai.
Patty was predeceased by her half-brother John Elliott and her dear friend and caretaker Cindy McMahon.
Patty will be lovingly remembered by her longtime partner John (Fenlon) Bellosa; children: Jennifer Grimaldi (Michael Zdanowicz) of Cape Coral, FL, Kira Prohaska (Steve) of Glenville, NY and Rob Laukaitis (Eileen Ryan) of Latham; grandchildren: Chad Drake of Waterville, NY, Megan Ritchey and Josh Ritchey of Glenville, NY; sister, Linda Fox (Martin) of N. Syracuse, NY; as well as four great grandchildren and half siblings from both Eilliot and Polak families.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in her memory to either St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Saratoga County Animal Shelter.
