Obituary of Janet W. Koval

Janet W. Koval, age 81 of Halfmoon passed away on Wednesday March 17, 2021, at home and surrounded by her family, after battling a long illness. Janet was born in 1940 in Springfield, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of the late Richard and Katherine (Hoar) Cunningham. She was predeceased by her siblings Richard Cunningham, Patricia Dunn and John Cunningham. Janet and her late husband Charles M. Koval raised their family in Clifton Park, and were the owner/operators of Saratoga Card & Gift in Saratoga Springs for nearly two decades. Janet thoroughly loved reading and visiting the library. Pre-pandemic she enjoyed activities at the local senior center and crocheted & knitted many beautiful items as a proud member of her knitting club with the sensational six. She is survived by her daughters Susan Street (William), Barbara Koval, and Karen Murphy and will always be known as "Gram" to her much-loved granddaughters Kelsey and Taylor Murphy. She will be lovingly remembered as the Matriarch of the Koval-Murphy clan by her loved ones who will have fantastic memories of her attendance and support at numerous family activities. In days gone by she enjoyed swimming, volkssporting, and travel to anywhere. She will be deeply missed by her good friends, family and surviving relatives. The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Lawrence Garbo, M.D. and Randi Daniels, MSN, RN, FNP-BC and the staff of NYOH for all the wonderful care they provided to Janet. Calling hours will be held on Monday March 22, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. with a service at 12 p.m. at the Catricala Funeral Home Inc. 1597 Route 9, Clifton Park. Private burial to follow at the Jonesville Cemetery.
