Obituary of Joseph M. Walker

Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Joseph Michael Walker, age 68 of Malta, went to Heaven on Friday, December 24, 2021 at Saratoga Hospital. Born in Philadelphia, PA, son of the late John and Helen Mathers Walker. Graduate of Shenendehowa High School.

Living their dream, Joe, wife Sherry and sons Danny and Joey traded New York for Florida some 20 years ago rather than waiting for retirement returning to their home on Saratoga Lake every Christmas and summer. The last few years with the boys settling in the Malta area, they retired from Florida, becoming Fort Myers snowbirds and Saratoga Lakers year-round.

Married 37 years to the love of his life, life’s simple pleasures with Sherry meant the most; coffee on the dock, walks down the road, drives to wherever just to spend time together, sitting on the porch watching the boats on the lake, walking their neighborhood in Fort Myers.

Together they raised two very fine young men, oldest son Danny mirrors his dad’s love for living on the water and ability to back large vehicles and trailers up on a dime. While Joey like his dad is an avid sports enthusiast. Talking sports while shooting hoops or throwing a baseball in the yard is a classic memory. Both share his smile and quick humor.

Brother to Mary Ann (Peter) Strauss, Paul, Kathy Blakeney, Helen (Bill) Yuzynko, Mark, Amy (Sean) Banagan, Damien and predeceased by Baby John. Uncle to several nieces and nephews and special friend to many.

Calling hours will held on Friday, January 7th from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Catricala Funeral Home, 1597 Route 9 in Clifton Park. Burial in Saratoga National Cemetery will be held at later date.

Please, no flowers! Instead consider donating to Estherville Animal Shelter, 100 Russell Rd, Greenfield Center, NY 1283, in loving memory of Joe and their beloved dog Gypsy.

If today you can look to heaven and smile knowing that Joe Walker was part of your life, you can count yourself among those truly blessed.
