Obituary of Bonita L. LaMountain

Please share a memory of Bonita to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Bonita L. LaMountain, age 75, of Halfmoon, passed peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 4, 2022. Born June 13, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Nelson and Audrey Slocum. She is predeceased by her sister, Michiele Slocum; son-in-law, Richard Barnett; and life partner, Vincent Fisher.

Bonita spent her career in the accounts payable division of St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany. While at St. Peter’s, she had the opportunity to work with many colleagues she considered close friends.

She is survived by her children Christina (Fabian) Barber, Christopher (Dawn) LaMountain, and Angela Barnett; her siblings Judson (Joanne) Slocum, Yvonne (Barry) Webb, Evelyn (Joseph) Young, and Kim (Allen) Rovito; and loving grandchildren, Ryan, Hannah, Hunter, Erica, Devin, and Grace. Bonita’s grandchildren referred to her affectionately as “MUMZY.”

Mumzy became the most familiar name to those who knew her best. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s events with her life partner, “Papa” (Vince Fisher). She looked forward to winter and spring performances by the Shen Colorguard in addition to countless dance recitals and Nutcracker ballet events for many years. Mumzy was a lifelong NY Yankees fan. She loved watching the “boys in pinstripes” play ball. In her later years, she was an Auburn University enthusiast and enjoyed her fall Saturdays by watching Auburn football. Mumzy would “light up” when she spent time with her sisters. Sharing stories and doing all of their favorite things was a delight. She especially loved the annual beach trek to Cape May with all of her grandchildren and extended family.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

To honor Mumzy, please consider a donation to: Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Northeastern NY Chapter 1757 Central Avenue Suite 102 Albany, NY 12205.
