I worked very closely with Steve for the last four and a half years at DMV; he gave me the tour my first day and was always ready to answer questions or give pointers when needed. He was gentle, considerate, informed, interesting, and even when dealing with frustrating circumstances would err on the side of patience with the source of the difficulty. He had a great sense of humor and never escalated a stressful situation. He will be missed.

My deepest sympathy goes to Jim, Lauren, Ryan and family on the loss of Stephen. Unfortunately, I didn’t know Stephen well other than hearing wonderful stories about him from Maureen (Mom). In reading other condolences, it sure sounds like he was a loving, caring and kind man with lots of wit. He obviously took after both his Mom and Dad! My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I remember Steve in junior high school as a tall kid who laughed easily and often, who was kind and patient with others, who was smart and showed it by first paying me a compliment on something I had said in class, adding information he knew, or asking me a tough question. He and his family lived around the corner from me; he would wave or stop when he rode his bike by our house on his way home. I remember him, his brother and sister and parents as good people. He once talked to me about becoming a priest. He was a blessing. I am so sorry for his family's loss.

Stephen was a classmate of mine and he often sat directly in front of me or next to me. I kept hoping that his brilliance would rub off on me. He was a kind and gentle friend and a great debate sparring partner. Always a battle of wits. I’m sad to hear that he is gone. My condolences to his family.
