Obituary of Raymond J. Radassao

Raymond Radassao, beloved brother, uncle, and esteemed member of the community, passed away on June 23, 2023, at the age of 93. He was born on September 27, 1929, and his departure leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Raymond began his journey in Peekskill, New York, where he graduated from Peekskill High School. Shortly after graduating High School he worked for The New York Central Railroad in Croton Harmon, New York as a Diesel Technician, it was then, Fueled by a passion for service, he joined the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955 where he dedicating four years of his life to his country. During his service, he honed his skills as a Radar Engineer, laying the foundation for a remarkable career in the field of Ground Radar Communication Technology.

After his military service, Raymond pursued his education at Westchester Community College, where he studied electrical engineering. Armed with knowledge and determination, he embarked on a professional journey that would span several renowned organizations. Raymond contributed his expertise to Metro-North Railroad, as mentioned above, before his Service Career and then worked for IBM, and then began his career with Western Union, where he devoted an impressive 35 years of his life.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Raymond enjoyed an active and fulfilling life. In his spare time, he found joy in playing cards, exploring the open road on his bike, and taking leisurely walks. He was an active member of the Elk's Club, cherishing the camaraderie and shared experiences with fellow members.

In addition to his remarkable career and personal pursuits, Raymond Radassao demonstrated his deep compassion and commitment to his community. He selflessly donated money to support both veterans and local police departments, recognizing the sacrifices made by these dedicated individuals in service to others. His contributions served as a testament  to his unwavering gratitude and respect for those who safeguarded the well-being and security of others.

Raymond's philanthropy leaves a lasting legacy of generosity and care, impacting the lives of many and embodying the spirit of compassion he carried throughout his life.   

Raymond Radassao's presence in the lives of his surviving family members will be greatly missed. He leaves behind his brothers Angelo Radassao and Gildo Radassao, as well as his beloved nephews and Nieces: Ron Radassao, Niece Christine O'Neil and Husband Thomas O'Neil and Family, Niece Jean Radassao, Niece Deidre Price. Their memories of Raymond will forever hold a special place in their hearts.

As we bid farewell to Raymond Radassao, let us remember the impact he had on our lives. His dedication, expertise, and vibrant spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him. May he rest in peace, his legacy forever cherished.

A funeral service with military honors will be held on Friday, July 28th at 12:30 pm at the Saratoga National Cemetery.
