Obituary of Mary E. Pingelski
Mary E. Pingelski, age 91 of Halfmoon passed away peacefully at the Home of the Good Shepherd at Highpointe on August 5, 2023. She was born on May 5, 1932 to the late Thomas Tymocko (Tymko Tynoczko) and Helen (Tkacz) Tymocko. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph Pingelski, and her sister Catherine Wronoski.
Mary was a 1950 graduate of Albany High School and retired from the Dept. of Housing & Urban Development after many years. Mary and her husband Joe were lifelong members of the Polish Community Center in Albany where they attended numerous Polka dances and enjoyed volunteering at bingo and pierogi sales. Their love of slot machines took them to casinos from Saratoga to Las Vegas. She was also a member of the Halfmoon and Mechanicville Senior Centers.
She is survived by her children Kathleen (Brian) Fredette, Joseph (Kathryn) Pingelski Jr., and Christina (Jeffrey) Heiska, her grandchildren Julie (Steven) Whaley, Christine (Adam Koffman) Fredette, Kelly Fredette, and Jacob Heiska, and her great-grandchildren August and Robin Whaley, and Goldie Koffman. She is also survived by her sister Helen T. (Robert) Gavigan, sisters-in-law Amelia Pingelski, Shirley Pingelski, Dorothy Pingelski, and Stasia Hayner, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their gratitude and special thanks to the staff at the Home of the Good Shepherd in Malta for all the excellent care they provided.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday August 9 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Catricala Funeral Home Inc., 1597 Route 9, in Clifton Park, with a funeral service on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Saratoga National Cemetery at 12 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Northeastern Association for the Blind, 301 Washington Ave., Albany, NY 12206.
