Obituary of Kenneth E. McCune

Kenneth E. McCune, age 60 of Ballston Spa passed away peacefully at Saratoga Hospital on Thursday, August 17, 2023 after a long and courageous fight with liver cancer. Ken was born on April 29, 1963 in Schenectady, the son of the late Jack E. and Barbara A. McCune. He was predeceased by his mother-in-law Shirley Anuszewski and his beloved family dog, Lexi.

Ken was a 1981 graduate of Shenendehowa High School. He recently retired from the Shenendehowa School District after 29 years of service, but always shared fond memories of times working alongside his mother and father at Pitney Bowes. He enjoyed the little things in life such as splitting firewood with his father for their family business and being outdoors – camping, boating, and meticulously maintaining his yard. He was an avid NY Yankees fan and he loved to “Listen to the Music” of the Doobie Brothers and Chicago. Above all else, Ken was a loving husband and devoted father. His family was the most important thing in his life.

Ken is survived by his loving wife of 35 years; Barbara J. McCune, his children Marc (Kate) McCune, Kayla (Nick) Visconti, and Michael (Julia Smith) McCune, his siblings Donald McCune, and Dawn (Brian) Montague, his father-in-law Stephen A. (Joan) Anuszewski, sisters-in-law Terrie (Ed) Pingelski, and Susan (Norm) Collins, his brother-in-law Stephen J. Anuszewski, his numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and his 2 grand-pups, Toula and Porter McCune.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Ken’s doctor, Dr. Edward Liebers of Saratoga Hospital Medical Group-Oncology/Hematology for his advisement and never-ending positive spirit for Ken.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, August 22 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Catricala Funeral Home, 1597 Route 9 in Clifton Park, with a funeral service on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church in Round Lake. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery in Mechanicville.
