Edward L. Abbott, age 93, of Halfmoon passed away November 6, 2023. Born in Cohoes, he is the son of the late Henry and Yvonne (Lessard) Abbott. Edward is predeceased by his loving wife of 59 years, Shirley, his sister Hilda Fitzgerald and his four brothers Arthur, Harold, Richard and Floyd Abbott. In 1948, he graduated from LaSalle Institute in Troy. Edward was a Veteran of the Korean War where he served as First Lieutenant for the U.S. Army. He worked for the NY Telephone Company for 45 years, ending his career at the Clifton Park office. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 1450 and enjoyed spending time at his camp on Pleasant Lake, doing puzzles, watching sports and the stock market, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his daughter Cassandra (Walt) Brady, sons Edward M. Abbott, Thomas L. (Mary) Abbott, Patrick J. (Diane) Abbott, Martin D. (Judith) Abbott, seven grandchildren, Meghan (Tom) Loring, Colin (Devon) Abbott, Darren, Ellen, Luke, Nora and Colden; and five great grandchildren Molly, Josie, Lyle, Evelyn and Neil; in addition to many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2-6PM at the Catricala Funeral Home. 1597 Route 9 Clifton Park NY 12065. A mass of Christian burial will take place on Monday at 10AM at St. Mary's Church in Crescent. Following the Mass, burial will take place at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
