The first time Donna came to our craft night, as she was going out the door, Ray said “Make something nice so we can hang it on the refrigerator” and it makes me giggle every time I think of it. RIP Ray.

I never had a brother until I married Cindy
Then I got two That was forty four years ago
We were not children yet we grew up together
My memories with them go deeply
Ray Lived with us for eight months or so
We built a tepee for the kids
21 foot with a 4 foot crown and a fire pit
My new son and I built another for new kids
I wanted to make it as good as the first one
There was never a moment I suspected Ray of anything wrong
Ray was upmost trustworthy for me with my family
Anyone who knows the way I am knows that says everything
Twenty four hours after Ray departed I was alone
Standing in the surf of the most beautiful beach I will ever see
Sunrise spectacular rising above the equatorial horizon of the vernal equinox
It was the day after my youngest daughters wedding
I asked of the holy spirit to bring him a message
“Thank you for being a good brother and I am happy
With how your children have turned out”
Then it came to me as I stood ankle deep in the sand.
“ The longer you stand in the surf the deeper you sink into the sand
Becoming stronger and more able against the waves.
But you cannot stay there for too long”

My Uncle Ray was different than my other uncles. He was the fun uncle and always came with a playdate in the form of my two younger cousins. I have many fond memories of fun times with him.
I remember piggyback rides and sending rockets off in the park, climbing trees and retrieving kites. A few silly memories that for whatever reason always pop up in my thoughts. When Uncle Ray lived with us in the basement, one morning he came upstairs with a wolf spider he had woken up to on his face and had smacked it and put it in a mason jar. It wasn't totally dead and I remember tossing it around in the front yard like a game of catch.
I remember having a bath with my siblings and cousins after a long summer day and Uncle Ray bought is the ice cream and gave them to use to eat in the tub. He was always doing special fun things like that.
Uncle Ray was a very special person and will be greatly missed. We all love you Uncle Ray, I hope you are with Nana .
Love Alysa

Ray, my baby brother, gone too soon.
He was such a great guy; I honestly can't think of a bad memory. He was a great son, brother, brother-in-law, husband, father and uncle. I have many good memories. Vacationing at WDW as kids, we were camping there in Florida, we got so burnt and it was so hot in the tent! When all of our children were little Ray stayed with us for a while, it was great having him around. One Christmas Eve he helped us keep the Santa tradition alive by sneaking around outside the kids' windows with jingle bells so they would know Santa was nearby. Ray loved the outdoors. I remember once we were shooting off Estes rockets in the State Park, a rocket got stuck high up in a tree, but Ray climbed right up there after it. The kids thought he was great! Shortly after the rocket incident our son was about 3 and he got a kite caught in a tree. His Daddy was working so he said very matter-of-factly, " Call Uncle Ray, he'll come get it down for me." Even though Ray was sleeping because he was working overnights, he drove 1/2 hour to our house, climbed the tree and retrieved that kite! The last conversation that my husband and I had with Ray was on Easter Day, we were reminiscing about a trip we took to Noth/South Lake in the Catskills. There is a gorgeous overlook there that is over 2000 feet high, the cliffs jut out over a huge ravine. I always find it scary to get too close to the edge, but Ray laid on his belly and crawled out to edge to peer over! When I reminded him of that he said he was going to do that again one day...it was the last conversation we had. Save me a seat up there next to you Ray.
I love you, Cindy

I worked with Ray for several years at BJs and always admired his work ethic and dedication. I’ll never forget his thoughtful gesture when he gave my son a helmet for his scooter. Jimmy was in recovery in Florida and when Ray heard he needed a scooter to get around, he was gracious enough to offer a helmet for him. Sue and I are extremely saddened by his passing and send our condolences to Donna and his entire family.
