Obituary of Barbara L. White

Ballston Lake - Barbara Lee White (Carter), 83, passed away on September 14, 2024. Born in Amsterdam, NY to the late Agnes (Miller) and Edwin Carter. Barbara is was predeceased by her brothers; David Carter and James Carter, her daughter, Colleen Selkirk, and her granddaughter, Alicia Selkirk.
Barbara was a retired nurse and dedicated her life to caring for others both professionally and personally. Most recently, she worked for Columbia Memorial Hospital as a nurse manager.
Barbara was the loving wife to Lawrence White, to whom she was married for 61 years.
In addition to her husband, Barbara is survived by her brother, Thomas (Rosemary) Carter, her daughter, Maureen (Paul) White-Shock, her son-in-law James Selkirk, her grandchildren, Katherine (Nicholas) Giordano, Amy Selkirk, Robert Schock, and Lauren Schock, and great-grandchildren, Charles Giordano and Joanna Giordano. Barbara is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many, many, loving friends.
Barbara was very creative and artistic and a gifted seamstress. She made beautiful scrapbooks and quilts that will forever be cherished by her family. She always had her camera out and was prepared to document any occasion.
Barbara was also very devout, and active with her church. She had a kind soul, loved fiercely, and touched the hearts of everyone she met.
Calling hours will be held at the Corpus Christi Church on Friday, September 20, 2024 from 10am-12pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12pm at the Church
Donations may be made in her name to either Corpus Christi Church, 2001 Rt. 9, Round Lake, NY 12151 or the American Cancer Society One Penny Lane, Latham, NY 12110.
