John W. Clark, age 86 of Clifton Park, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2024, surrounded by his family. John was born in Green Island; he is predeceased by John J. and Mary Bleau Clark and brother Robert Clark. John served in the Air Force from 1954 to 1958. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 1450 in Halfmoon. John worked at General Electric in Schenectady as a supervisor in the steam turbine division, retiring in 1986 after 19 years. He then pursued his passion in taxidermy by establishing his own successful business, Clark's Taxidermy in Clifton Park for over 30 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and a member of the Clifton Park Sportsmen's Club where he was an NRA instructor educating many people in hunting safety. John taught snowmobile safety courses for many years. He promoted his craft through teaching taxidermy. One of his favorite pastimes was fishing with his grandsons. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with close friends. He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Patricia (Poteralski) Clark, three daughters, Cathleen (Paul) Zebrowski, Cherri (Wayne) Shultes and Colleen (Dan) Ross. Also loving brother, James B (June) Clark, sisters Barbara (Rocco) Testo and Donna (John) Baim, and sister-in-law Irina Clark. John was blessed with nine grandchildren; Jason, Wayne Jr, John, and Robert Shultes; Mary Mackenzie, Katelyn, and Zachary Zebrowski; Jack and Amanda-Nicole Ross. Also, four great grandchildren; Cadence, Harley, Emersyn, and Reid Shultes. Calling hours are Thursday September 26, 2024 from 10 am to 12 pm with a service at noon at Catricala Funeral Home, 1597 Route 9 Clifton Park, NY. Burial with Military Honors will be held at 1:30 pm at the B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. John's artistry is displayed at The Wildlife Sports and Educational Museum in Amsterdam, NY. Donations can be sent in John's name to the non-profit museum, The Wildlife Sports and Educational Museum, 3747 State Highway 30, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
