Obituary of Keith Roy Kraus

Clifton Park – Keith Roy Kraus, 80, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024 at Evergreen Commons in East Greenbush, NY. Roy was born in San Diego, CA, a son of the late Helm Eugene and Phyllis (Rearwin) Kraus; predeceased by his brother, Philip Kraus. After graduating High School in 1963, Roy enlisted into the United States Coast Guard where he served as a Crew Chief and a Pilot with distinction until he was Honorably Discharged in 1970. During his military service, Roy met Elsa M. (Ramos) Kraus, and in 1966 were married. Together they had two children. Roy worked for Praxair Inc., an air products company, as a Technical Engineer; a position he held for 35 years. When Roy wasn't at work, he spent much of his free time with the American Legion. He was very devoted to the organization and served several posts, to include the post Chaplain, and the Bingo Chairman. He had a passion for aviation and could often be found restoring vintage aircraft. Roy is survived by his wife of 58 years: Elsa M. (Ramos) Kraus; his two daughters: Dawn M. Rosenthal and Elaine M. Kraus; his grandson: James C. Rosenthal; and his sister, Jean Kraus. A period of visitation will be held for Roy on Monday, October 28, 2024, from 10:00 am until 12 Noon at Catricala Funeral Home, 1597 Route 9, Clifton Park, NY, with a service at the funeral home immediately following. Burial with military honors will take place after the funeral service at Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville NY. Donations in Roy's memory may be made in lieu of flowers to: King of Kings Lutheran Church, 1593 Crescent Rd, Clifton Park, NY 12065.
