Obituary of Joan C. Badin

Joan C. Badin, age 69 of Halfmoon, formerly of Ramsey, NJ passed away on Sunday January 10, 2016 at her home. She was born on May 4, 1946 in the Bronx. Joan received her B.S. in Psychology from Ramapo College in NJ, and her M.S. and Doctoral Degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She was employed as a psychologist for the Dept. of Human Services of Bergen County, NJ for 18 years as Administrator and Senior Clinical Supervisor of Forensic Treatment Services. She created numerous forensic outpatient programs for the County of Bergen and the Superior Court. One of her programs even became a model for the National Institute of Mental Health. Joan was a single parent who was devoted to her family, particularly her precious granddaughters, Carly and Jordan, who meant the world to her. She was an animal activist and member of the ASPCA, the Humane Society, and PETA. and was a mother to many rescue cats. She called herself a “pseudo” creative person with interests in writing poetry and music, and visual arts. She taught herself classical guitar, chess, and a second language. She was a firm believer in leaving the world a better place. She is survived by her daughter, Danielle (Anthony) Domicolo, brothers Frank (Joan), Ed (Naomi), and William (Janette) Wundeler, granddaughters Carly and Jordan Domicolo, and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a memorial service at 1 p.m. at the Catricala Funeral Home Inc., 1597 Route 9, Clifton Park.
