John and I were roommates in grad school at the University of Rochester 40 years ago. In spite of living 1,000s of miles apart we were able to sustain contact throughout our adult lives. We were able to visit with John in May, and saw he was fierce of spirit even as his body was betraying him. Peace to John and his family.
