Being in Florida I never met Tom but he was a regular fixture on my calendar every year since 2005 during tax season. He was also available for friendly phone consultation on various issues that would arise at other times during the year. His familiar voice always inspired comfort and confidence. I felt like I knew him and his loss is profoundly felt. Blessings and comfort to his family.

Gail and Family: I first met Tom when he was the RA on my floor when I was a freshmen at Siena College. He was a mentor to me and many other underclassmen. We forged a strong relationship- that continued professionally and personally over many years. While I did not see Tom as much over the last several years— it always was a delight to see him. He was simply one of the nicest people I have ever known and I always valued his advice and guidance. He will be tremendously missed by all who were so fortunate to know him. I am so very sorry for your loss John Puig

To the entire Donovan family...I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I had the privilege of working with Tom at Marvin and Company in the early 2000s. The thing I remember most about Tom was that he was always such a gentleman, always friendly and always willing to help. My prayers for your entire family is that your tears turn to smiles with the many happy memories you have.

Gail and the entire Donovan Family,
My sincerest and deepest condolences for your sudden loss. Tom was a gentle man and a gentleman, a kind and compassionate person, and to me, a friend, mentor and Marvin colleague. Although our years at Marvin dated back to the 1980’s, Tom was the same fine man all the years we connected thereafter. He was truly one of a kind. He always made time and was never without a smile. Some people, despite leaving us, live on forever because of the impact they made on the world and on our lives. That was Tom, and it is with a terribly heavy heart that I acknowledge his passing. May the vast good memories of your time with Tom give you peace and the strength to endure your loss.
With warmth,
Cathy Bennett

To Tom’s Beloved Family ~
We are deeply saddened to learn of Tom’s passing. He helped us through a tremendous loss several years ago after the sudden death of my husband’s brother and business partner. His kindness and generosity were unmatched. He spent countless hours helping and guiding us in the right direction. When he came to our house, he didn’t mind our 2 silly beagles...in fact he loved them and shared so many happy stories of his youth. He was a wonderful friend and we will miss him. Rest peacefully Tom, you were the best, give Phil a hug for us.

My memories of Tom, Gail, Kevin and Colleen are just so very special. Our days spent in Birchwood School were filled with the goodness and hard work of the Donovan family. Tom was such a wonderful parent to Kevin and Colleen and I so enjoyed him as one of my most favorite dads during my 40 years as an elementary teacher. Much love to his family and always remember how many, many people were touched by Tom's love.

Tom Donovan was one of the first people I met after moving to the Albany area. We had just purchased our first home, started in my first medical practice just out of residency, and had way more financial and reporting issues than I could handle. I was totally in over my head, but Tom spent an inordinate amount of time guiding me through several issues. He was calm, precise and a consummate professional. He put me at ease at a time when I had a lot going on. My first position only lasted three years, and I moved on to a different practice that included financial services as part of the benefits. I was sad to leave Tom a few years after that move. I occasionally read or heard of his accomplishments, and now this news. I am so sorry for your loss, and I hope the story of the comfort and care he took of me and my family eases some of the pain. Richard Orsi, MD

Gail, I was so sorry see that Tom had died. I worked with him in the late 90's at Marvin, I was the receptionist, Tom was a great guy, he was kind and caring even when things got hectic at tax time. He had a good sense of humor. He had a messy office, but he always knew where every file was and could always tell me exactly where to find them. His clients are going to miss him very much.

Tom embodied the Marvin=Family sentiment moreso than anyone else I know. He was a great unifier, always taking the time to talk to our significant others and spouses and all of us Marvinites to keep the conversation going and to include everyone. He was a very generous man, always thinking of others, whether it was dropping off beer for the fridge at work or hand delivering it to your house. He always asked about my daughter Kenzie and took the time to talk to her whenever she stopped by the office. He took the time to talk with me about my health often. He also took a personal interest in my marketing efforts and was a big help to me in recruiting people to join in the fun, while always participating himself. He was just a sweet man and I am so very thankful I had the pleasure of getting to know him. This is an enormous loss. And my heart just breaks for Gail, Kevin and Colleen and his sweet grandkids.
