Ward and I grew up in Athens, NY, and were in the same grade throughout school. In fact out parents' homes were just around the bend from one another on Schoharie Turnpike inside the village boundaries. Although it's been many, many years since I have seen and spoken with him, I have wonderful memories of him. His spirit for life, his infectious laugh, his natural charisma, and his quick wit were the attributes Ward shared with everyone who knew him throughout his life. The world is a sadder place without him, but to all of us who were blessed to know him he will live on in our memories forever.

My heart breaks in pieces for all of you in the undeniably deep, deep grief you are experiencing.
Losing Ward is such an incredible loss!!!!
The hurt has to be unimaginable and some of the greatest pain you will ever know. Ward’s passing affects so many from Mitzi’s generation down to his youngest nieces and nephews, and perhaps future grandchildren he will never know. It may be hard to believe but someday with all these tears, there too will be laughter again as you tell the stories of this amazing person who lives in our hearts now forever.
