Obituary of Barbara J. Glover Reutemann
Barbara J. (“Supie”) Glover Reutemann passed peacefully from this world on November 4, 2022 surrounded by the love of her family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born October 19, 1949 in Albany, to the late James (Jim) and Elfriede (Friede) Glover, Barbara was best known as “Supie,” a childhood nickname. A 1967 graduate of Maple Hill High School, she received a Bachelor’s of English from SUNY Oneonta. For much of her career she served as a Senior Living Specialist for Independent Living communities, most notably the Glen at Hiland Meadows, where she spent the last 17 years helping residents transition to retirement living and feel at home.
The care Supie put into her work reflected the compassion, loyalty and gratitude that she carried across her life. Whether through beautifully written words, thoughtful gestures, “walks & talks” or quiet moments of togetherness (often involving a glass of Merlot or a dish of ice cream), she made everyone feel loved and appreciated. She took pleasure in doing heartfelt things for family and friends, a trait she inherited from her mom, Friede. Supie had a creative spirit, a superb sense of style, and a tender heart; all of which remained unwavering amidst changes and uncertainties of illness. Above all else, Supie found her greatest joy in her role as devoted mother, “Nini” (grandmother), sister, aunt and friend; the roots of her enduring legacy.
She is survived by her “fam damily,” including children, E.J. Reutemann and Casey (Brian) Woodfield; grandson, Max Woodfield; brother, Patrick Glover; niece, Amanda Glover; grandniece, Harper Glover; and nephew, James Glover. She will also be deeply missed by faithful friends and extended family. She was predeceased by her beloved sister-in-law, Nancy Glover.
Friends can express condolences Monday, November 14 at the Catricala Funeral Home, 1597 Route 9, Clifton Park, from 4 to 8 pm. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 15 at Christ Community Reformed Church (CCRC), 1010 Route 146, Clifton Park at 11 am. A private family burial service will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, Castleton-on-Hudson.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to CCRC by mail or at http://www.ccrc-cpny.org/.
