Obituary of Salvatore A. Castiglione

Salvatore A. Castiglione, passed away peacefully at age 75 on December 16, 2023. He is survived by his wife Denise, daughter Emilie, son Sal, brother Anthony, nephews A.J and Joseph (Christina), and grandniece Audriana. Sal was extremely proud of growing up in Brooklyn and raising a loving family in Sayville on Long Island. He loved being outdoors in nature especially fishing and always eagerly anticipated visits to Narrowsburg to spend time with his friends hunting and especially eating. He cherished all the great new friends, that he made after moving to live, work and later retire Upstate. Yet, he often yearned for and would gladly have returned to those good old days in Brooklyn. During his tenure as Assistant Deputy Superintendent and Chief of the Consumer Services and Licensing Bureaus, he implemented numerous new policies and procedures, that to this day continue to make NY State the leading insurance department in the USA. The external appeals process and transition from paper to digital imaging were just a few of his accomplishments. He always made himself available to help anyone at any time and as everyone knows did things "his way". In some of his final words, he said: "I couldn't have written a better script for my life if I tried. Don't mourn me but instead celebrate our relationship with one another" The calling hours will be held Friday, December 22 11am to 1pm, with a service at 1pm, in the Catricala Funeral Home, 1597 Route 9, Clifton Park, NY 12065. The burial will follow, at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waterford, NY. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choosing.
